A Candle Spell for Confidence
Confidence ebbs and flows, often in ways we can’t control. Sometimes commitments overshadow our outlook, causing confidence to deteriorate. Other times, we are affected by the unkind words of others. We can even feel down on ourselves without a particular cause! Regardless of the reason, we all need a little boost sometimes. This spell is great for when your confidence meter is running a low.
You Will Need
A dark space
1 x orange candle
1 x yellow candle
1 x green candle
White candles (for working in the dark)
White string
A hand mirror
Something to carve symbols into candles with
Method
In a darkened room, light your white candles and cast a circle.
Prepare each of the three coloured candles by carving runes or symbols that represent confidence into them. I usually use traditional runes like Sowilo, Wunjo and Kenaz as well as personal sigils of my own. It’s a good idea to carve these symbols repeatedly up and down each candle, rather than just once. Try to reflect on each symbol and it’s meaning as you carve it. The process will help center yourself and focus on the task at hand.
When you have finished carving into each candle, bind them together with the white string, chanting;
I bind these three
to unite them one
may it be that
their power be strong
Before lighting the candles, meditate on the problem that is weighing you down. Try and bring that pain to the fore of your mind. As you light each candle say;
With these candles
light I will see
guide me to the confidence
that I seek
With the candles lit, stare into the flames. Meditate on situations where you will need confidence to find you. Imagine what you would do with more confidence and what paths might open up to you. Now see yourself as a strong and confident person. Assert and affirm this change in yourself!
When you are ready, snuff out all of the white candles and hold the mirror up. Adjust the 3 coloured candles so that their light illuminates your face. Look directly into the eyes of your reflection and repeat
I am confident and I am strong
Wherever I go, I belong
I am kind, but never weak
Deliver me the confidence that I seek
While maintaining eye contact with your reflection, trace the runes you inscribed in the coloured candles onto your forehead with your finger. You may repeat this until you feel strong and ready.
End your ritual and snuff out the coloured candles, placing them in a safe place. Go you!
